The purpose of the Photography competition is to have participants show their skill with a camera. They are to demonstrate their ability to capture the essence of a scene and to identify that one moment in time that says it all. The participant is permitted to use digital image editing tools, an important part of modern photography.
On individual basis.
The theme for the event will be provided on the spot. All entries must relate to the theme provided.
Deadline: 31st December, 2010.
Submission of images is done through the Web Portal. Each participant may enter up to 2 images.
The two photographs are just a formality to check what the quality of the participants is. The difficulty level on the event day will be set accordingly.
- Only digital images may be submitted. Images taken through an analog camera and then scanned will not be considered. - Images should have a resolution of 1024 x 768 px. - Image format must be JPEG. - File size must be less than 1 MB. - Each image must have an appropriate caption limited to 200 characters.
Prohibited Image modifications:
- Borders and frames.
- Watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices. Winning participants will be accredited for their pictures.
- Addition/replacement of elements in the image.
- Selective editing (e.g.; applying a filter to a region).
Permitted Modifications:
- Crop/resize/rotate is permitted as long as the image satisfies the required criteria.
- Red-eye removal and spot editing
- Leveling and Saturating.
- Use of filters to sharpen, soften, blur, or remove noise.
- Use of corrective functions to improve the natural appearance of the image, such as levels, contrast, brightness, curves, intensity, tone, hue, saturation, lightness, value, color balance, and tint.
Submitted images will be judged on the following criteria:
- Creativity and originality.
- Photographic quality and technical expertise.
- Effectiveness in depicting competition theme.
- Instant impact.
The verdict of the judges will be final.
